Women are Angels
And when someone breaks our wings….
we simply continue to fly………on a broomstick…

We are flexible….

Accounting Follow-up

26 01 2010

Just a quick follow-up.  I’ve had people in my profession tell me I’m too picky about what clients I take on.  You know what my experience has been?  Getting quality clients means that not only do I get paid on time, but I have people that actually value my input!

For example, this year, 6 of my clients gave me Christmas presents and EVERY SINGLE client sent a HANDWRITTEN  card!  Considering that currently I only have 8 clients, that’s a pretty darn good percentage!  And it’s not the size or amount of the gift that counts – it’s the thought.  And the two clients that didn’t give gifts were completely understandable – I was barely able to keep them from going under, but they’re still there!  (If only they had hired me earlier in the year – they wouldn’t have gotten into that position!!!)

And you know what else?  Because they’re so thoughtful, I pay much closer attention to them and make sure that everything I do for them is RIGHT the FIRST time!  And I’m talking about obsessive perfection.

I used to think that the success of my business would be reflected by the number of clients I had.  I was completely and utterly wrong.   Most of those clients were simply looking for the cheapest designer that could actually come up with designs.  Now I’m much wiser (but not older!) and I pick and choose my clients, and I’m up front with them about how I do things.  My clients are happy, I’m happy – Everyone Wins!

So I reiterate – ❤ your Accountant, your attorney, your dry cleaner.  You never know when those relationships will really need to be relied upon.  Besides it being just common courtesy, it’s just a plain ‘ol thing to be nice!  Trust me – you’ll feel good about it!  🙂

<3 your Accountant!

26 01 2010

Okay, so I do some bookkeeping work on the side to earn some extra cash. Normally I don’t dole out advice, especially if it’s unwanted, but I really feel like I have to say something. Love your Accountant. Listen to what they say! I had to deal with two people today that really just weren’t the brightest crayons in the box.

It’s not that I don’t understand that everyone can’t be financial people, it’s just that it’s very annoying to those of use who are when people don’t listen.

So tell your Accountant & Bookkeeper a big Thank You! Because we’re the ones on the backside keeping your business going….

Today

11 09 2009

Today, 8 years ago – a day which will live in infamy….

September 11, 2001.

Never Forget.  Never Forgive.

I am a major proponent for forgiveness, especially when I see people that are sincerely sorry for their actions.  But what happened 8 years ago should NEVER be forgiven or forgotten.

Thank you to all those that were involved in the rescue efforts, both during and after this tragedy, and to those that are helping to keep our country free!  My family and I keep you in our thoughts always!  And a sincere love to all those that lost family, friends and co-workers on that fateful day.  Our hearts go out to you.

The New Snow Leopard

28 08 2009

I’m really excited that my MacBook Pro will be getting an OS upgrade. Snow Leopard is on it’s way! As I was trying to order the $29 upgrade from the Apple store, I saw the tagline for the box set that has the OS, iLife ’09 and iWork ’09 for $169. So I thought that I would go ahead and upgrade it all. Makes sense right? Spend $169 now or spend close to $500 later. Hmmmm. In this economy, let me think about this for a minute.

So as I was trying to order the Box set, I checked out MacMall on pricing. Good thing I did. I just got the Box set for $149 plus $3 shipping. Better than the Apple store. Whoo Hoo! Apple would have cost me $169 + $12 in tax (free shipping). Hmmmm. Let me think about that again.

Shop around folks. You never know what deals you’ll find, especially with this economy. Every penny saved can add up quick!

North Tampa Photo

I had a rather interesting day today, as I discovered a ‘new’ photo supply store in Tampa.  Okay, so they’ve been around for more than 30 years, but new to me.  Their website isn’t anything exciting, just a few basic pages, but the customer service INSIDE the store couldn’t be beat!  Friendly people that had no problems with me just asking questions.  Very informative people that really know their stuff.  Unlike a certain big box store that’s in Countryside Mall that I go to when I need the occasional lens wiping cloth…..  (Do I really need to say who it is?)

Great selection there, friendly people, and if you don’t see it, they can order it.  And the prices are pretty reasonable.  I’m sure you could find the same products online for cheaper, but you definitely won’t get the service that goes with it!

Go check them out for yourself!   1020 West Busch Blvd. Tampa, FL 33612  813-935-9339

Free Vector Art

Okay, so I had some fun playing around today.  Here are some star patterns that you can have for free.  I know this sounds stupid, but don’t try to claim them as yours.  Give credit where it’s due…

If you want it, drop me a line.  I’ll be happy to email it to you until I figure out this whole download thing.  The web can be such a tricky thing…
