Cruise, Part 1

28 07 2007

Okay. At the request of several of you, I am posting my pictures of the cruise I took this year. I was on the Caribbean Princess, of Princess Cruise Lines. Absolutely one of the finest cruise lines I have ever taken. I don’t recommend Royal Caribbean and especially not Carnival. Go with Norweigan Cruise Line, Cunard or Windjammer. Or better yet, Princess.

Okay, shameless plug here. The only way to travel is first class on a cruise ship. I received MUCH better than average service than everyone else on the cruise, not to mention all the great privileges that go with it. Like Internet access via satellite, dry cleaning and washing at no charge, personal valet to unpack your things, room service 24/7, and much more. Look at what they have to offer on their site – http://www.princesscruises.com

I promise you won’t be disappointed in them.
On another note, this is only the first part in the series. So we’ll begin with the trip down to Ft. Lauderdale from Clearwater. Nice drive – no photos (no photos to take!), but I had to stop at a rest station in the middle of Alligator Alley. They have a fire station there with some awesome equipment for rescues out in the middle of the Everglades! So I took a couple of shots of their very-awesome and impressive airboat. This baby goes 70mph on the swampland like it’s nothing! Wish I could have tried it out!

Okay – more to come!

Today’s Rant

26 07 2007

Okay, rant for the day. This one is about the most irritating bureaucracy I have ever dealt with. Did anyone guess Medical Insurance companies? Good job! You get a free lifetime supply of red tape!!!  🙂

I have had coverage for 3 years with the same company. All of a sudden, this company switched me to another (United Healthcare), without even telling us!!!! Needless to say, I’m pretty teed off. No notification, no letters, nada. Absolutely nada. So now I have to go through four different departments just to be switched back, but it’s not going to happen before my doctor’s visit (which incidentally, is tomorrow….), so I have to pay for it out of pocket and they’re refusing to reimburse me for it. Talk about unfair!! I’m paying to have this coverage and they tell me which doctor to go to? Sorry, but I only like the clammy hands of my current doctor.

Folks, I am strongly encouraging you to write to your State Insurance Commissioner and relay your tales of woe in great, exacting, lengthy words. The more words, the more they see if wrong with the system, even if they really don’t read the letter completely. Then be sure to send it to them again with a new cover sheet asking them why they haven’t responded yet. Sending it to them once a month sounds like a good timeframe.

So join me in defeating yet another belligerent beast! Call, write, email and fax your way through! Together we should be able to force these insurance companies to deliver on their promises without so much fine print!

Today’s Uselss Tidbit of Information

26 07 2007

99% of all human beings find it impossible to lick their elbow.  Hmmm.  Okay, everyone has to try it once.  That’s understandable.  But what about that 1%?  Do they just keep trying???

Okay, enough already!

24 07 2007

Okay, Okay!  I’ll get those cruise pics up this weekend!!!  Enough already!  I’ve gotten about 20 of you people that are questioning me about them.  Please!  Keep in mind that I have some 35mm film that I have to carefully scan and convert to digital.  Yes, I’m old fashioned.  I have (3) digital cameras and (2) 35 mm cameras.  Yep – you guessed it.  The 35mm cameras ROCK!  They are truly my favorites.  Nothing compares to what you can do with them.  Don’t get me wrong.  I like my digitals (especially my Canon 20D).  But there’s some really cool things that you can do with 35 mm that you cannot do with digital until post-development.  Then it really takes your time.

On another note, I’ve had several people ask me why I don’t post something on a daily basis – frankly, I don’t want you people to get bored with me.  My life simply is not that exciting, and as I find things that I find completely useless, I’ll post them.  Simple as that!

So keep enjoying and I’ll try to post more as my time allows.   :p

Funny Art Joke

22 07 2007

Okay folks! I was sent this funny joke. Some people may not get it, but too bad!! I personally thought this was a great groaner….

A thief in Paris planned to steal some paintings from the Louvre. After carefully planning, he got past security, stole the paintings and made it safely to his van.

However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas.

When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he replied,

“Monsieur, that’s the reason I stole the paintings. I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.”

(And you thought I didn’t have De Gaulle to post this!)

Well Wishes and Thoughts

16 07 2007

Okay everyone. It’s time to turn on your connection to the spirits, rub your lucky rabbit’s foot, turn three times backwards, or whatever it is that you do for luck! My friend Richard is going for an interview in Colorado Springs for a really cool, really envious job. (I am completely jealous!) Let’s all hope that he gets the job, because frankly, I was really getting bored of him always talking about how much he got to go rock climbing out there in Arizona. Or is that getting jealous? Anyhoo, he really needs this job. I’m not going to go into specifics, for it is a truly long and bothersome story…. so, let’s just wish Richard a safe and speedy journey.

May you have all the right words to the questions they ask, may you not trip over your own two feet, may you not be overqualified for a monkey’s job, and most of all, may you be the one they pick! Cheers!

Richard, I raise a glass to you and wish you luck!
